Amapiano DJ and producer DBN Gogo has revealed a surprising career moment, admitting she once had the chance to be part of the global hit “Mnike” before it became a worldwide sensation.
Speaking in an interview with SlikourOnLife, the DJ shared that the now-iconic track was initially sent to her by Tyler ICU, who wanted her input and even considered her for the collaboration.
According to her, the opportunity came during a period when she was receiving a large volume of music, and the track unfortunately slipped through the cracks. Reflecting on the moment, she described it as one of those “what could have been” situations in her career.
“Mnike,” which later featured artists like DJ Maphorisa and others, went on to become a global anthem, dominating charts and gaining massive traction across social media platforms.
Despite missing out on the collaboration, DBN Gogo expressed admiration for the record and praised Tyler ICU for creating what she considers one of the biggest Amapiano songs ever released.
Today, “Mnike” remains a defining record for the genre, playing a major role in pushing Amapiano onto the global stage. Meanwhile, DBN Gogo continues to make her mark as one of the key figures driving the sound forward internationally.
