During the interview, Peter Obi explained his business ventures, stating, “I ran a brand and market management company and held the sole franchise for Heinz products in Nigeria.” He identified himself as the sole agent for South African Breweries, among other major companies.
Obi elaborated that after he left the company he built, it turned into a prominent cash-and-carry food retail outlet in Nigeria, run by his brother. He also mentioned his significant investments in banking, stating he held major shares in a few banks and was the chairman of at least one before entering politics.
He shared anecdotes from his early life, including receiving one of the first American Express Platinum cards in 1987 to demonstrate that his wealth existed before he took office.
