Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has weighed in on the contentious discussion surrounding Churchill’s contributions to comedians. Refuting claims that Churchill directly provided cars and cash to the comedians, Jalang’o emphasized the significance of the platform Churchill Show offered.
And pointed out that talents like MCA Tricky and YY Comedian, who now boast cars and homes, owe their visibility and success to the opportunities created by Churchill Show.
“Churchill gave us cars, money, and more than we are talking about. Say for example, MCA Tricky. He has a car and a house, as does YY Comedian, who is also building another house. Who would know these comedians were it not for Churchill Show?”
Jalang’o asserted.
Did Churchill Gift Comedians?
The debate on whether Churchill gifted comedians cars and cash originated from Paul ‘Wakimani’ Ogutu.
“Some people asked for cars while others asked for money to invest in shows. Churchill then gave those who had asked for money Sh300,000 each. Then those who wanted cars were told to go to the showroom and pick cars of a certain amount. None of us has ever said the story.”
Comedian Paul Kimani stated.
YY Comedian and MCA Tricky Comment
However, YY Comedian rubbished Paul Kimani’s narrative, labelling it a “showroom story.”
“The direct answer is, nobody bought us cars. Of whose interest is all this showroom story? Sijui mahali Paulo ametoka na hiyo story. (I do not know where Paulo came up with that story.)”
YY Comedian stated.
On the other hand, MCA Tricky asked his fellow comedians to practice gratitude, instead of hastily dismissing it as either false or true.
“I want to talk to comedians who went through Churchill, let be us be quick to be grateful, rather than be quick to say whether its a lie or the truth.”
MCA Tricky said.
