Kenyan businesswoman Lizzie Wanyoike, the founder of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), passed away at the age of 72 after bravely battling cancer. Her departure occurred on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Lizzie Wanyoike, a serial entrepreneur, was also the visionary behind Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory Schools and the esteemed four-star Emory Hotel in Kileleshwa.

A Great Legacy
Lizzie Wanyoike leaves behind the legacy of a pioneering figure in Kenyan education, having risen from humble beginnings in Murang’a County. She holds a Diploma in Education holder from Kenyatta University College. Since its inception in1999, NIBS has since thrived, expanding to multiple campuses.
Additionally, the charitable educationist ran the Lizzie Wanyoike Foundation which supported disadvantaged students in both NIBS and other Kenyan high schools. Her life story is marked by resilience, entrepreneurship, and a dedicated effort to create a positive impact through education and charitable initiatives.
Cancer has robbed the nation of a hardworking and resilient lady. Radio presenter Muthoni Kirumba in a heartfelt Facebook post, expressed, “Rest in peace, Madam Liz Wanyoike of NIBS college. Cancer will also succumb!!!! Dance with the angels.“
